Social Responsibility

Equal opportunities policy

NORLYS does not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment on the basis of race, colour, religion, ethnic or national origin, gender, sexual preference, age, disability, political opinion and union membership. This principle applies to recruitment, hiring, training, promotion and other conditions of employment. Discrimination against an employee or job applicant is a serious violation of NORLYS values.

Ethics of managers at all levels

Those in leadership positions should act as role models in every aspect of working life. It is the behaviour of supervisors that shapes standards in the workplace. Every manager, regardless of level, should be familiar with the specifics of the industry and their decision-making should be guided by the overriding objective of ensuring the economic, safe and environmentally sound operation of our Company.

Managers should enable employees to develop their own potential by setting goals, delegating responsibility and giving honest and constructive feedback, and supporting employees in difficult work situations. This enables employees to develop their competencies and to perform their assigned tasks better and more effectively.

Supervisors should feel a particular responsibility to ensure that they always act ethically in accordance with the Company's values.

Mutual respect

In our organisation, we respect employees at all levels and value their contribution to the Company as a whole. We believe that the success of the entire organisation is built on diversity of knowledge, skills, professional qualifications, experiences, personalities and diverse points of view. In our employee relations, we maintain high standards of personal culture and mutual courtesy both inside and outside the workplace. We promote teamwork free of any prejudice.

We respect all people and their right to privacy. We accept all diversity in terms of origin, race, gender, sexual orientation, culture, age and marital status, as well as religious or political beliefs or membership or non-membership of social and professional organisations. In our organisation, we do not tolerate any form of discrimination, offensive or inappropriate behaviour or the making of offensive remarks towards others.

Harassment

NORLYS will not tolerate any harassment, by word or deed, directed against other employees or job applicants. Harassment includes, but is not limited to: verbal harassment, such as offensive comments, jokes or slander; physical harassment, such as unnecessary or gross touching, obstructing or preventing movement; and visual harassment, such as offensive or gross posters, postcards, calendars, cartoon jokes, graffiti, drawings, messages, notes or faces. Sexual harassment consists of unwelcome advances, requests for sexual favours or other verbal or physical acts of a sexual nature when:

  • submission to such an act is a condition of the person's employment,
  • submission to such an act or rejection of it is to form the basis of the employment decision,
  • the purpose or effect of the act is to unreasonably disturb someone at work or to create an intimidating, hostile or rude atmosphere in the workplace.

Any complaint of harassment will be thoroughly investigated and, depending on the results of the investigation, appropriate action will be taken.

Threats of violence

Any verbal threat of violence is unacceptable. Any report of the commission or threat of an act of violence will be thoroughly investigated.

Alcohol and psychoactive substances

The abuse of alcohol and psychoactive substances seriously jeopardises occupational safety and can also involve criminal activity, which is why NORLYS requires that no one in the workplace is under the influence of alcohol or psychoactive substances.

Prohibition of child labour

We support vocational education in the form of school-based apprenticeships and people over 16 on contract work during the holiday season - with written parental consent. The employment of persons under 16 is prohibited.

Reporting violations - Whistleblowers

If you become aware of any wrongdoing, illegal activity, fraud, misappropriation of NORLYS assets, violation of the Code of Ethics or other company regulations, we allow you to communicate such information anonymously via an anonymous e-mail box: signal@norlys.lighting. It is forbidden to use any means of retaliation or reprisal against employees who, in good faith, have reported actual or alleged misconduct or believed that it has occurred.

Investigations

NORLYS undertakes to co-operate with the relevant authorities, while maintaining the ability to enforce its rights and privileges, in all official investigations of misdemeanours and crimes committed by its employees and associates.
